Our comprehensive 8-stage swimming syllabus
We have developed an 8-stage swimming syllabus, to bring our swimmers from beginner to mastery.
Stage 1
Water Familiarisation

Safe entry and exit

Breath holding for 10 seconds

Nose bubbles for a minimum of 5 seconds, 10 repetitions

Streamlined gliding from wall with a minimum of 5 second hold

Back star float for 10 seconds

Tuck float for 10 seconds

Flutter kicks with board for 10 metres
Stage 2
Fundamentals

Confidence Jump

Bobbing for 10 repetitions

Submersion to bottom of pool for 3 repetitions

Flutter kicks with front crawl arm pulls with board for 15 metres
Stage 3
Front Crawl + Confidence Building

Compact Jump

Straddle Jump

Bobbing for 10 reps without goggles

Streamlined gliding with a minimum of 10 second hold without goggles

Front crawl for 15 metres

Underwater swim for at least 2 metres
Stage 4
Backstroke + Intro to Survival Skills

Standing dive

Streamlined kicking into forward tumble turn

Put on an appropriately sized PFD on land​
